Career Choices that directly require computer studies as a cluster subjectThere are no career choices that directly acknowledge computer studies as a requirement other than being pooled together with other technical and humanities as a forth choice for most careers, Thus, Computer studies does not have a competitive edge that could convince students to choose it a career subject. One could think that courses like software engineering, computer science and engineering, IT, ICT require computer studies as a core subject but Alas! Not yet a reality in Kenya

The Ministry of Education has yet sent a second sign in form of a progressive message to teachers that it doesn't support the famous University programme dubbed School Based by announcing the new 2017 term dates as follows:
School based programs are essential for teachers who want to make academic advancements in Kenyan Universities. This Include: Post graduate and Undergraduate degrees and normally takes 21 days of examinations and learning also called a tri-semester. The program was started by universities to accommodate teachers who wanted to advance but could not be recommended for the normal study programmes by the Ministry due to the technicalities and complications involved.
Traditionally, school holidays had between 3-4 weeks in April and August but the new term dates have limited April and August holidays to 3 weeks making it difficult for varsity students to prepare. But we hope Universities will adjust their programs to fit the ministry's term dates. The restructuring of term dates was implemented by Education CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i as a strategy to curb KCSE examinations cheating which had rampantly been anticipated from previous years. In a circular labeled MOE.HQS/S/6/72 and released on 21st Oct 2016, Mr Matiang'i announced the new changes that would take effect from 4th Jan 2016 when all schools are instructed to roll their programs to the new changes. Its our wish that all stakeholder's expectations are met and also sanity is restored to the education sector for the best of our country and the future of our children. 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014
