What are the merits of a desktop computer over a laptop computer?

​Since 2003, the sales of laptops and other small computing devices has surpassed the sales of desktop computers, however desktop computers are still fighting for a share in the computing world even though it is of micro-manageable scale - thanks to their merits and capabilities that other consumers fancy.

​Why do some people prefer desktops computers to laptops computers then?

1. Desktop computers are easily upgradable
   Desktop computers are equipped with extension slots that allows consumers to easily upgrade its hardware and add more features that they lack.
2. Desktop computers suit network host tasks
   Because of their bulk, desktop computers are stationery which makes them more suitable to host networks. They also have a large surface area to connect other peripheral devices.
3. Desktop computers have more enhancements and room for improvement
   They host a number of ports of various types
4. Desktop computer’s spare parts are cheap to acquire
   Desktop spare parts are easily available and cheap to acquire as compared to laptop computers
5. Because of its bulky, desktop computers are better suited in doing office work
6. Troubleshooting desktop’s hardware is easier than laptop’s
7. Programmers and media production units prefer desktop computers because their hardware capabilities are flexible.
