INSTRUCTIONS TO SCHOOL
- The information contained in this paper is to enable the head of school and the teacher in charge of physics to make adequate preparations for this years join physics practical examination. NO ONE ELSE should have access to this paper or acquire knowledge of its contents. Grate care MUST be taken to ensure that the information herein does not reach the candidate either directly or indirectly.
- The apparatus required by each candidate for the physical practical examination are set out in page 2. It is expected that the ordinary apparatus of a physical laboratory will be available
- The physics teacher should note that it is his /her responsibility to ensure that each apparatus acquired for this examination agrees with the specifications.
- The question paper WIIL NOT be opened in advance
- The physics teacher is not expected to perform the experiment
N/B Any use of apparatus other than the ones specified may lead t candidates being penalized
Question 1
Each candidate to have the following apparatus
- A meter rule
- Vernier calipers
- One 300g mass
- Two knife edges (Each 9cm high)
- Some thread (about 20 cm long)
Question 2
PART A
Each candidate to have the following apparatus
- A micrometer screw gauge (to be shared )
- A voltmeter (0-3 or 0-5)
- Nicrome wire SWG28 (d=0.35mm)mounted on a mm scale with the ends labeled
- A switch
- A jockey / A connecting wire of approximately 50 cm Length having a crocodile clip attached to one end.
- One new dry cell
- At least eight connecting wires with clips attached to one end
PART B
Each candidate to have the following apparatus
- 50ml measuring cylinder
- One 50g hooked mass
- 50cm piece of thread
- Some water in a beaker (about 50ml)
