How/Where to put Table of Contents
The table of contents should actually appear after the Title page, that is page 2.
There are two ways one can fix table of contents.
Any of these methods have advantages and demerits. However the student should be equipped with both in order to make a choice on which method she/he may prefer.
The manual one is good for students who are beginners in the use of word processors i.e. if the student is not properly equiped with the use of word processing styles such as heading 1 and heading 2.
The automated method will be helpful for students who have a skilled know-how of word processor styles
How to Insert Automated Table of Contents in a Computer Project
It is highly recommended to insert your table of contents and list of tables or figures after completion of the project report.
However if the table of contents was created before completion of the project report, it can be updated by click on it and selecting update table ... option.

This is best for learners because it gives learners a clear map on what is needed on the table of contents especially those learners who never assigned their text with inbuilt styles such as headings and sub-headings
To insert a manual table of contents requires you to just type topics, subtopics alongside the pages they feature.
Note that the table of content comes after the title page and list of tables and table of figures thereafter.
