does turnout at party nominations depict a bigger picture of the outcome in a general election?18/4/2022
Primary party nominations for the UDA party in Central Kenya was poorly attended in the run for the 2022 general elections despite the party boasting of zoning the region as its stronghold.
This event triggered criticism from the Azimio camp who mocked the Deputy President for the turnout.
An influential NewYork based professor and Raila's right handman Makau Mutua (with 1 million followers) tweeted on 15th of April 2022.
UDA should be afraid — very afraid — of the low voter turnout in party primaries in Mt Kenya. In some places, only 2% of the registered voters bothered to come out. Disaster awaits
He was answered back by David Makali (a journalist and political Analyst with 227000 followers)
Agree with you Prof. This is very serious. When are Azimio affiliates (Jubilee, PNU, ODM and the rest or the 26-strong pool) carrying out their primary nominations in Mt Kenya so that we can compare the turn out?
Who challenged him to wait for Azimio affiliate parties to hold primaries in the region and compare the turnout with UDA turnout.
Opinion Poll
We therefore asked Kenyans on Twitter to give their honest opinion if the turnout in primaries depicts the bigger picture of a national elections turnout. They had this to say.
Honestly
49.2% of the 130 respondents said NO
41.5% of the 130 respondents said YES
9.2% said they have no idea if primaries depict the outcome in a general elections.
Conclusion
In the previous general elections, it has always been seen that the turnout at primaries doesn't necessarily influence the outcome in a general election.
This is because the presidential contest attracts a lot of people during general elections and it is never done in the primaries. Their candidates are endorsed by national delegates or naturally, party leaders are given tickets de facto.
The primaries turnout doesn't therefore necessarily portray the outcome in the final elections.

Raila Odinga is one person who is loved in Kenya and hated in equal measure. Tribes in Central Kenya normally distance themselves from 'BABA' during national and regional elections every time they are conducted.
But what has 'BABA' done wrong to the people of Central Kenya?
We decided to conduct an opinion poll on Twitter asking one of the feistiest Odinga critic(S).
honestly
We gave 4 options to choose from.
This tweet received 35 respondents and received the following outcome.
Historical influence turned out to be the main reason why Kikuyu tribe are Raila's biggest political nemesis. This was closely followed by propaganda, circumcision and at least oaths.
This means that Railaphobia in Central Kenya has nothing to do with political policies and issues rather a phobia as a result of previous dubious marketing of Baba in the region.

A Jubilee party blogger and propagandist who was also a senior editor at Nation Media Group alleges that DP Dr. William Ruto is a member of Freemasons cult.
In a tweet dated 6:32 PM · Apr 8, 2022·Twitter Web App, Mutahi Ngunyi used a 1987 Ksh 100/ note with marks like that of a snake surrounding Former President Moi as being associated with freemason a lodge that created William Ruto From Scratch.
"Do you REMEMBER this 1987 note? It had a SNAKE covering President Moi. They withdrew it after 5 or so YEARS. It was INSPIRED by the freemasons - the LODGE that created William Ruto from SCRATCH. Think about it!"
These remarks created mixed reactions from his 1.8 Million Twitter followers with those allied to Ruto condemning him and those of Azimio praising his wisdom.
