10 LAWS OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS

Convince yourself that you know nothing
Good learners have the understanding that their cup is empty due to this fact, they will find ways of trying to fill it even though the cup is never full. It doesn't matter whether you know or you don't, the best way is to convince yourself that you don't know so that you can open up your mind to receive new knowledge, new things, new experience. This theory challenges your mind to prepare to seek and receive. Make sure that your cup is always 'empty' for continuity.

Stop looking for shortcuts (they don't exist)
If you are among those guys who believe in shortcuts to find your way out, rest assured that you are investing in obsolete targets. Shortcuts are not life hacks and don't guarantee a perfect learning environment. We don't learn to pass examinations, we learn to absorb knowledge so that we can use this learnt knowledge to impact and change our lives. Examinations are just 'by the way' or a measure which does not necessary guarantee a precise and accurate measure of academic success. Stop looking for shortcuts because they don't exist and even if they did, they come with a price tag that you will later find to be very expensive. Learning in the hardest way is the best way to achieve your academic success.

Find your Why (this is the beginning of your turn around)
Starting everything and every aspect of your life with why, will make you rethink everything you do. Every 20% of decisions we make impacts 80% our lives (the 80/20 rule).

Approach every decisions in your life events with why and avoid making haphazard decisions that may end up ruining your set targets and objectives. Here is a book/link to get you started;

Stop dreaming (start planning)
Success is guaranteed when you stop dreaming and start planning. Either put your dreams in writing and plan how to implement them instantly.
A good students is the one who:

1. sets targets and has an objective in life.
2. Analyse his/her reports and by finding ways to make gradual improvements in weak academic areas.
3. Puts his dreams to be a reality; and to do this, planning is required

Stop blame games (you are a master of your own destiny)
Greatest of all failures go down by blaming other people for their own mistakes and deeds.
To be an academic giant, be accountable to your own deeds and avoid blaming people as an excuse to set yourself free of blame. Academic under-achievers are fond of blaming:

1. Teachers
2. Parents
3. School
4. Government
5. Comrades
6. And anything they are falsely vindictive of blaming based on attitude and emotions.

Each one of us is a failure because its through failing over and over again that we learn to be successful, the successful ones have learned about this trick and used it to their advantage. While underachievers have failed to account the reason for their own downfall.

Stop procrastination (learn to get instant solutions in every emerging problem)
​A student who fails to master the fundamentals of a subject from the grassroots level, will find it tough to pass the subject in future. For example; if a student fails to master the concept of integers, fractions, operations on numbers and algebra at an early stage of mathematics foundations, he/she shall have it difficult pursuing mathematics later in advanced stages.
To avoid these type of vicinity, stop postponing your solutions to problems at a later date and seek instant solutions instead. procrastination is the father of laziness. Avoid it with the strongest terms.

Stop dwelling on things that cannot change (if you cannot change them, change your attitude)
Accept the fact that somethings cannot change and if they did, they will take a very long time to change.  If for example a system is not changing to address flaws or its slow in changing due to bureaucracy, stop dwelling on it to change, change your attitude and move on.

Stop pleasing people (you can't make everybody happy)
What do you achieve by making people happy unless you are comedian or an athletee where people's emotions earns you a living.
We don't work to make other humans happy, we work for our own good and benefit. No matter the situation, toil to achieve for your own benefit this grants you intrinsic motivation. Never work with the aim of winning an award or a standing ovation, this has no meaning unless for bragging purposes.

Work on your attitude
Attitude is a strong feeling towards something. The feeling can either be positive or negative. Developing a positive attitude towards something means you will love or like it. 
Most low achievers tend to have negative attitude towards subjects, schools, teachers and even anything they don't like. Wake up from this negativity dust up and change the way you relate to other things. 
Attitude must be the strongest factor that causes most students to under achieve. It lowers self esteem and confidence hence fail.

Surround yourself with friends who add value to your life.
If you can't find friends who are valuable to your life, you better stay isolated and unique. Friends make a person, good friends means you have a network in your system that is capable of lifting you to the next level. 
Stop mixing with gangsters, drug addicts and other bad characters because they may influence your ways of life.
Above all, find friends who are focused the way you are, the people you can relate with to make your life better, people of integrity even though they seem scarce, people with a common course and people who can challenge you to start thinking. Avoid mixing with dimwits and fools unless you are foolish yourself.
