Katika jamii nyingi, vikao maalumu viliandaliwa ili kuwaelekeza vijana kuhusu namna ya kukabiliana na majukumu yao ya kijamii. Nyakati nyingine mafunzo haya yalitolewa katika vipindi vya burudani kama vile utambaji wa ngano. Kadhalika, maarifa mengi kuhusu namna ya kukabiliana na majukumu na changamoto zajinsia mahususi yalitolewa kupitia sherehe maalumu za kitamaduni almaarufu miviga. Mifano ya sherehe hizi ni kama vile upashaji tohara, arusi, na hata matanga.

Kwa upando mwingine, watoto wa kiume walifunzwa umuhimu wa kuwa warn wa kutegemewa najamaa zao, pamoja na kubuni mikakati ya kuzihakikishia familia zao usalama.
