Explain five circumstances under which containerization may be used to transport goods (10mks)

1. Where bulky goods/large volume/many goods are to be transported. Since they have a large carrying capacity
2. For ease of /fast loading/off loading – where specialized equipments are available
3. Where safety of goods need to be guaranteed/to avoid damage to goods-since containers are strong/enclosed
4. Where goods are special as specialized containers are available/can be designed for them.
5. Where security of goods needs to be guaranteed/to avoid theft of goods/goods of very high value/those that are risky require high level of security which is guaranteed by containers-since the containers are sealed/locked/don’t show the contents of goods being transported
6. Where there is need to save on Insurance cost/premiums as chances of theft/damage/risks to goods are minimal
7. Where there is need to save on transport/handling cost- due to use of machines/less labour/large carrying capacity
