You are expecting your classmate to pay you a visit over the weekend. Describe how you will thorough clean a hurricane lamp.

Protect the working surface (½)
Empty the lamp (½)
Remove the wick (½) loose dirt by wiping with a dry cloth (½) and remove chimney (½).
Wash the chimney in warm (½) soapy (½) water.
Rinse in warm water (½) leave to dry.
Wipe the rest of the lamp with a cloth (½) wrung out of warm (½) soapy (½) water.
Rinse by wiping with a cloth (½) wrong out of clean water (½)
Trim the wick evenly (½)
Replace the wick (½) put enough paraffin (½) in the lamp and replace chimney.

Dismantle the lamp and remove the movable parts ( ½ )
Empty the paraffin in an empty container ( ½ )
Dry the lamp using a dry fluffy cloth ( ½ )
Remove soot ( ½ ) from the metal chimney vent holes ( ½ )
Use warm ( ½ ) soapy water and a soft clothes ( ½ ) to clean the metal chimney
Take care that water does not enter the paraffin reservoir ( ½ )
Dry with a non-fluffy material to remove all traces of water and to avoid watermarks ( ½ )
Clean the glass chimney in war, soapy ( ½ ) water using a sift abrasive ( ½ )
Rinse ( ½ ) in warm water ( ½ ) to remove all soap and dirt ( ½ )
Keep the chimney in a safe place to dry and buff the lamp with a dry cloth ( ½ )
Refill the lamp a third way full ( ½ ) reassemble the lamp ( ½ ) ready for use.
