The importance of the death of Jesus to Christians01. It demonstrates God’s love for human beings
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 02. Through the death of Jesus, Christians are forgiven their sins
Matthew 9:6
But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” Hebrews 10:10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 9:26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 03. Christians are able to commit themselves to the will of God.
Jesus set us an example by dying for God's sake so that we humans can also commit our lives to praise and worship God because he is the giver and provider of live.
Revelation 19:10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.” Isaiah 7:14 New International Version (NIV) 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. 04. Christians are not supposed to make animals sacrifices to God
Hebrews 10
[ Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All ] The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. ... 05. Through his death, salvation/eternal life is availed to all people
John 12:32 New International Version (NIV)
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” Romans 5:8 New International Version (NIV) 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 8:17 New International Version (NIV) 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Hebrews 10:10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 06. He has become their everlasting high priest by offering his own body.
Revelation 20:6
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. 07. It enables Christians to face death with courage
2 Corinthians 4:10
We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 08. Christians have a personal relationship with God
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
