Jesus wept over the city and the temple of Jerusalem because they had ceased to serve the purpose for which they were intended.
People had turned the temple, which was God’s house into a market where they over-reached in trade.
Jerusalem had failed to serve as an example of holiness despite being Zion or David’s city.
It was here in Jerusalem that Jesus was going to be rejected and be executed because it had rejected His messiahship.
Jerusalem together with the temple and the people were only good for destruction. They had lost meaning and purpose.
The Jews had failed to be good example for bringing salvation to the Gentiles.

In order to teach them the secrets of the Kingdom of God.
To have companions/person assistants:
To form an inner grap which should assist him during his public ministry:
To be witnesses to his saving acts in the world:
To reveal his person/give a new understanding of his messiahship:
It symbolised the reconstruction of the twelve tribes of Israel.
To train/prepare them for the mission after his death.
To lay a foundation for the establishment of the church.
To continue with the biblical theme of election in which God chooses anyone to serve him.

Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;
He saw two boats without the fishermen:
He entered Simon’s boat/asked them to push it into the water;
He sat down/taught people from the boat:
He asked Simon to push the boat into the deep water/cast the nets for a catch;
Simon told Jesus that they had been fishing the whole night without success;
He obeyed Jesus’ command/let the nets down:
They caught a lot of fish/asked their partners in the other boat to assist them remove the nets.
They filled both boats with fish/the boats began to sink:
Simon Peter and his companions were astonished at the miraculous catch of fish/Peter asked Jesus to depart from him because he was sinful man.
Jesus told Peter not to be afraid because he was to catch men from then;
They brought their boats to land/followed Jesus.
