List the various methods of persecution used by the Quraysh against the early Muslims.

prophet was attacked several times by hostile crowds
dirt and filth was thrown to him
Women were butchered shamelessly while men were slaughtered i.e. Amar, Sumaiyah, Yassin
slaves who converted to Islam were dragged over burning sand and stones i.e. bilal
Uthman was tied with a rope and beaten severally many times by his own family members
the prophet while praying at the Qaaba a man came and strungled him with a rope around his neck
Zubair bin awam was wrapped up in a mat by his uncle for days with the aim of forcing him to denounce Islam.

The Quraishi opposed the teachings of the Prophet [s.a.w] because:-

The teachings of the prophet [s.a.w] were against the cultures of the Quraishi e.g. drinking of alcohol, burying alive of baby girls.
The teachings were against idol worship.
The Quraishi did not want to abandon the religions of their forefathers.
Islam was against the Quraishi evil practices like gambling, tribalism and mistreatment of women.
The Quraishi did not want to be made equal with non-Arabs and Islam was for All: Arabs and non-Arabs.
The Quraishi wanted a Prophet to come from a rich family and the Prophet Muhammad [s.a.w] did not.
The Quraishi took the Prophet Muhammad [s.a.w] as a cursed person because he did not have a baby boy to inherit him; thus they called him an Abtar.
The Quraishi considered the Prophet [s.a.w] as a mad man because he denied the teachings of his forefathers for a God who could not be seen.
The Quraishi considered the Prophet [s.a.w] as a magician because whoever listened to his teachings embraced Islam; e.g. Umar ibn Al Khattab.
The teachings of the Prophet [s.a.w] encouraged peace and unity while the Quraishi loved wars blood feuds.
