saying what is good and avoid what is evil
using the tongue to forbid what is evil to others and encouraging them to do what is good
constantly glorifying Allah
reciting the Quran

worshiping Allah by pronouncing the Kalima
use the tongue to declare and pass fair judgment
use it to defend the Islamic rights
use it to advocate for the rights of other people
use to show that you are really honest

(a) What are the differences between Zakat and Sadaqah?(10 marks)

Differences between Zakat and Sadaqa.

Zakat is compulsory to those who qualify to pay but Sadaqa is optional.
Zakat is given to Muslims only while Sadaqa can be given to both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Zakat has specified recipients while Sadaqa can be given to anyone.
There is a fixed rate of Zakat payment while any amount can be offered as Sadaqa.
There is a minimum amount in which Zakat is payable (Nisab) but Sadaqa has no Nisab.
Zakat is payable only on savings that have been in one’s possession for at least a year but this not necessary for Sadaqa.
Zakat paid on tangible property while Sadaqa can be property and even good deeds.
Zakat is a pillar of Islam while Sadaqa is an act of charity.

Importance of Sadaqa

It is a form of Zakat which is not compulsory and which is voluntarily given.
It helps in promoting love, peace, unity and harmony in society.
Creates a sense of satisfaction in the giver and gives hope to the receiver.
Helps in poverty alleviation.
It is a way of sharing resources.
Help to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor / the haves and have-nots.
It is a form of ibadah rewarded by paradise.
Helps in over-coming misery and thus puts a smile on others’ faces.
