Shirk Asghar, minor, eg Ria or doing acts for show off
Shirk Khafiy, hidden, eg equating the power of Allah & those of other creatures, statement like: ‘If it were not for Allah and you, I wouldn’t have succeeded’

Give the ways in which shirk affect muslims.

Shirk nullifies good deeds
Shirk is aslso the greatest sin that Allah does not forgive without sincere repentance
It makes muslims to direct any act of worship to other than Allah and the reward is sought from creation instead of the Creator
It may also lead to muslims being obedient or obeying creation in opposition to the Creator
Shirk enables the muslims to direct their prayers or supplications/du’ah to other than Allah e.g the dead etc
Shirk also makes muslims to associate partners with Allah in His divine law or rather ruling by a mixture of Allah’s laws and manmade laws

Forms of Shirk AL-AKBAR

To be excessive in one's worship, respect and 'glorification' of prophets, pious leaders, sheikhs or imams.
When one prays or supplicates to something other than Allah (s.w.)
When one takes a lawgiver or lawmaker other than Allah
To adorn something that is believed to be a form of 'protection from misfortune'
To swear with names other than Allah
To practice, involve or believe in any form of sihir (sorcery) including charms, incantations,astrology etc.
To believe in evil omens
To be excessive in one's reverence, respect and 'glorification' of prophets, pious leaders, sheikhs or imams

Ways in which shirk affect Muslims.

Practising shirk/belief in shirk confuses believers and sends them away from Allah.
Practising shirk leads to ones good deeds being rejected by Allah.
Shirk is condemned by Allah and whoever practises it will be punished by Allah.
It belittles human intellect.
A Muslim who practises/believes in shirk will not earn Allah’s forgiveness.
A Muslim who practices shirk is prohibited from entering Jannah and will spend eternity in Jahanam.
A Muslim who practices/believes in shirk is suspicious and has no peace of mind.
Belief and practices in shirk can bring about enemity among Muslims hence lead to fights and quarrels.
The heart of a Muslim who practices/believes in shirk will be devoid of love for Allah.
A Muslim who practices shirk is hated and shunned by true believers.

Ash-shirk-al-Akbar (major shirk).
This is invoking, making supplications or praying to other gods besides Allah. It also implies having intentions to worship other gods besides Allah and obeying authority against the command of Allah.
Ash-Shirk-al-Asghar (minor shirk)
This type implies showing love which is due to Allah alone to others other than Him.
Ash-shirk-al-Khaf (inconspicuous shirk)
This implies not being satisfied with what Allah has decreed/ordained for a person.
There is a promise of reward for the study and implementation of Hadith.
